The Lambadis' doors in Andhra Pradesh

by Lakshmi Prabhala

Across the Medak district in Andhra Pradesh, one finds settlements of the Lambadi tribe known as thanda.

A characteristic feature of a thanda are wonderfully attractive and striking doors, that could easily cause the envy of their urban cousins.
Using mostly vibrant hues of the red, blue, green and yellow, wonderful designs and patterns are created and add to the charm of the rural scenery.

In this slideshow, a few examples of these gorgeous doorways.
