For long, the only options to stay in Jodhpur's old city were a long list of guest houses ranging from bizarre to sad all the way to scary. Most of them would claim a beautiful view of the fort, a view which would unfailingly end up being covered by other buildings, construction work and what not. Then Raas opened.

Raas is an oasis of calm in the middle of the hectic city, hidden behind a relatively unassuming door. Once opened, the gate reveals a grand ancient palace right under the city fort. Raas is an antique mansion, yet it has been renovated following a fresh and minimal taste that gives the hotel a unique personality.

All the comfortable rooms and suits look at the blue city, and while the hotel has a strong contemporary feel, its design is in beautiful harmony with Rajasthan's esthetic heritage and the property fits beautifully in the walled city. 

Between the location, the ambience - exclusive, yet accessible -, the infinity pool (in the middle of Jodhpur!) and, particularly at night, the stunning view, there probably isn't a better way to enjoy Jodhpur than staying at Raas.
