Just like the name suggests, the Brunton Boatyard is a beautiful hotel right next to the boat jetty and overlooking the busy ship channel of Cochin.
I didn't have a chance to stay there, but the man at the receptions was kind enough to show me some of the rooms. They were all well appointed, all with awesome four poster beds.
The reason why I got to the hotel, though, wasn't sightseeing. During the wet summer, the hotel organises an artists convention, and for a few weeks the lobby is turned in some sort of artist studio. Some of the best artists from the region take part to the meeting and move to the hotel to work, and I had the chance of seeing some incredible work in progress.
Even if I wasn't a guest of the hotel, I didn't miss the dining experience at the History Restaurant. The space, with its design and decor, feels exactly like actual ship deck. The service is almost perfect. And the food perfect.
Check out the slideshow to see images of the hotel and the surroundings. It's not Miami, it's Fort Cochin.
