If you are looking for the great restaurant, the cool bar, and the quaint little cafe in India - this is the place for you. We know that not all restaurants are serving authentic food, not every bar will know how to make a good cocktail and not every cafe in India is worth spending time in. We also know that some do, and go find them. We travel around India, explore it, we try a lot of options, and when something is really exciting, when we find a really nice cafe we write about it. We share our experience with you, so you don't miss that one truly charming cafe in India and don't have to waste time trying all the other cafes we found disappointing. We don't cover everything: we strongly believe that every cafe in India that is not worth going to, for whatever reason, is simply not worth mentioning. And why would you want to hear about a restaurant that we would never go back to? The India Tube is only about what we like, and hope you will too – and the rest can be ignored. But in the same time, when something doesn't completely convince us even in that one Indian cafe we really liked, we point it out. In the end, it's all about sharing our best experience of India to make yours the best possible.

If you prefer your rum cheap, don't mind your beefsteak well done and have a soft spot for old-school pubs, then allow us to guide you to a place in Kolkata that might just be perfect for you. A Calcuttans' perennial favourite, this is one of those places where deadpan men sitting alone with their whiskey-and-water are interspersed with gaggles of young adults vehemently arguing about either cinema or cricket. Here freshly-in-love couples craving a bit of alone time are always interrupted by a bunch of friends and truanting college students often bump into their professors who are also playing hookey.
