Tall and flowering trees of endless varieties cover most of Herbs and Spices’ four-acre plot, giving a sense of the farmhouse living that was once the norm in this city, but is now the exception.
Set amidst landscaped lawns is a perfectly preserved South Indian villa which was once a proud family home and now houses the restaurant, providing an ambiance that is hardly matched in town. The ornate wooden door at the entrance is evocative of the strong carving traditions of the Deccan, and the erstwhile living room serves as an indoor dining space while the spacious backyard verandah makes for very romantic outdoor dining.
Don't get distracted by the continental food section of the menu and go straight for tandoori and north Indian. We recommend the paneer in all the different preparations available and the north Indian breads: whether you are a connoisseur or trying them for the very first time, the chefs won't disappoint you. The traditional desserts are also very good, and not be missed if you have a sweet tooth.
Because of its great ambiance, even more than because of the good food, Herbs a Spice is quite popular in town. So make sure to have a reservation, and enjoy.
