Look out for the prettiest mint green and white bungalow as you wander down the lane from St. Andrew’s church and you’ll come across The Yoga House. A charming café, studio space and shop, The Yoga House could be considered a little too worthy.
The food, ‘based on cutting-edge macrobiotic recipes rooted in ancient dietary wisdom and traditions’ they say, is as healthy as it gets: fresh, local, seasonal. And it's served in khansa copper and tin plates, not because they look good (which they do) but because eating off khansa metal provides the body with minerals (didn’t you know?).
That’s right, everything here has been considered; from taking your shoes off so the white floorboards stay white, to the light and airy décor which uses only khadi fabric and no plastics.
However Ajit and Maud, the Indo-French owners are so welcoming, and the food is so delicious that you can forgive the holier-than-thou principles.
We had the multivitamin juice and a hearty quinoa burger, accompanied by a tasty crunchy beetroot and roasted almond salad.
Desserts aren’t forgotten either. The apple pie, sweetened only with dates (of course!) was amazing.
With daily yoga classes (including free, community yoga on Sundays) and a view of the sea (if you’re in the right seat!), The Yoga House is peaceful oasis of calm where you can happily while away the afternoon, and feel good about yourself for doing so.
